We warmly invite you to join us at the 6th international Building Children's Nursing for Africa Conference to 'Celebrate Children's Nursing in Africa'.
Children’s nursing in Africa has grown and is flourishing as a discipline through excellence, authenticity and broad collaboration. At this conference we are celebrating the practice and education of nurses who work with newborns, children and adolescents, and their families, across Africa.
This is our first conference since 2021, and we are glad to be back! This year, there are two big birthdays - the Harry Crossley Children's Nursing Development Unit celebrates 20 years and Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital, a momentous 70! These milestones are made truly meaningful by the many mooi mense - beautiful people – bantu abahle that have shaped children's nursing during this time, and that we have had the privilege, and joy, of working alongside.
You all have wonderful stories of being part of building children's nursing for Africa, and we have designed the conference programme with space and occasion to hear and celebrate them together. We truly want to showcase the depth, diversity and innovation of children’s nursing practice and education, as well as research, across Africa and so we encourage you to consider submitting an abstract, under one of the conference sub-themes:
1. Teaching and learning for authentic practice
2. Unapologetically excellent African practice
3. Emerging directions in African Practice
4. Leadership and Collaboration
The conference has also been designed, in the only way we know how - with a strong emphasis on participation, conversations and collaboration - and so above all, we would LOVE you to join us, back at Belmont Square, Rondebosch in Cape Town.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Warm regards,
Prof Minette Coetzee Director, | Ms Mitzi Franken Nursing Manager, Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital |
