Submit your abstract

We invite you to submit abstracts that showcase the depth, diversity and innovation of children’s nursing practice and education across Africa, with specific reference to the four sub themes below:

1. Teaching and learning for authentic practice
   Across the region, innovative educators have been designing, developing and delivering curricula guided by local practice and context. This theme celebrates teaching and learning practice that strengthens both educators and clinicians.
2. Unapologetically excellent African practice
   African models of excellence that allow nurses to flourish, in safe spaces facilitate best outcomes for both children and those caring for them. This theme celebrates ways of working with children and their families rooted in rich local practice, alongside the science that
   underpins it.
   
3. Emerging directions in African  Practice
   This theme celebrates the manner in which African children’s nursing is evolving, specifically the developing advanced practice role, the articulation and embracing of interprofessional practice and the need be mindful of ecosystems in the provision of healthcare practice and education.
   
4. Leadership and Collaboration
   An often-quoted African proverb advises that, if you want to go far, go together. This theme celebrates what it truly takes to design and build sustainable opportunities that guide leadership and collaboration within teams and systems, both in the practice and education of children’s nursing.

Submission guidelines

Submit an abstract via the Oxford abstract submission website for your paper (maximum 350 words).

Please use the following headings:

Introduction/Background:
Briefly describe the importance of the study/project, what is already known, and what your study/project adds.
Objectives/Purpose:
Describe the problem(s) or question(s) the study/project aims to address.
Methods/Approach:
Describe the study/project design and the methods or approach used.
Results/Outcomes:
Describe the findings in relation to the objectives and problem(s)/question(s).
Conclusions:
Summarise the key findings and indicate implications or next steps for research or practice.

• No graphs or diagrams should be included.
• References are not required.

This is a conference designed with a strong emphasis on participation, conversations and collaboration; this will be
reflected in the design of the programme.
